You can find mask, fins, and snorkel for as little as $25 or so. So $100 would get him something REALLY nice. Now if you start getting into the scuba gear, that’s a whole different animal and much more expensive. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and that he is as giving as you!

150 should be a good start. Check out leisurepro.com they have some package deals for about 150

You can do the Wal Mart special at 25 bucks or the sky is the limit.
Typically, an excellent snorkel sells for 45 bucks, a good mask for 90 bucks and nice fins around 90 bucks as well.

Give him the most you can afford, but price isn’t everything it is the fit of the mask as well. If he wants to dive then make sure he tries the masks on first and finds one that fits perfectly. If it leaks when he is underwater clearing it is easy, but a real pain if you have to do it all the time.

Forget about the $25 junk, because that is all that it is. The $150 will be a great start for the gear. The fins and the mask should be top quality, but don’t go crazy on the snorkle. I never use mine diving, unless I am in rough water. So yes, $150 will get a good an average set of gear. Maybe just try to give him the money for a good mask and snorkle, and worry about he fins later. Anyway, good luck.

I think 100 bucks would be enough. 150 would be too much, and he probably wouldnt know where to spend it. LoL! just kidding.
But seriously, 100 bucks would be enough.

Depending on what brands you are looking at you should be able to find some decent equitment I would think. Look up an ebay search and see what stuff may be running for. Good Luck !
